[ARCHIVED] Windsor, Severance Agencies Unite for Back-to-School Safety

School Crossing Guard and Kids

The Windsor Police Department, Windsor Severance Fire Rescue, Weld County Sheriff’s Department, and staff members from the Town of Windsor, Severance and Weld RE-4 School District will join forces for back-to-school safety efforts beginning Thursday, Aug. 18.

Law enforcement and fire vehicles and staff will be located near select school crossing locations to remind drivers of school zone pedestrian safety:
- 9th Street and Main Street
- Jacoby Road and 15th Street
- Garden Drive and 3rd Street
- Diamond Valley Parkway
- Range View Elementary
- Severance Middle School

Agency representatives will be present before and after school, from 7:30-8:10 a.m. and 2:30-3:10 p.m., August 18-19 and 22-26.

In school zones, drivers are asked to pay attention, put down cell phones and slow down in an effort to keep children safe. The speed limit in a school zone is 20 MPH when children are present, except for the 30 MPH zone on Main Street. Fines are doubled in school zones during school times.
