Windsor Police Open Registration for 2023 National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and camaraderie to make neighborhoods a safer and better place to live by encouraging residents to host block parties to meet their neighbors. The Windsor Police Department is seeking volunteer block party captains for this year’s National Night Out, which happens on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

Those interested in becoming block party captains are encouraged to register by 5 p.m., July 21, 2023 at bit.ly/2023WindsorNNO.

Participating in National Night Out serves to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are well-connected and organized, making them a less appealing target for crime. Volunteers will often host a pot luck, bar-b-que, ice cream social, or other event, and local officials and staff from the Windsor Police Department and the Windsor-Severance Fire Department attempt to visit each block party. In 2022, Windsor’s event included over 14 block parties.
