On Tuesday, May 30, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) announced 12 projects were awarded a reservation of federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits to support the new construction of affordable rental housing units. Of those 12, one is a senior housing development proposed by the Windsor Housing Authority (WHA) that will bring 62 new units of affordable senior housing to Windsor. Jacoby Meadows Senior Apartments will be located at 15th St. and Guardian Dr.

Windsor’s Town Board supported WHA’s application by giving approval last December to waive approximately $1 million in development fees and local taxes. The Town of Windsor also approved an additional $461,000 in matching funds toward construction costs, contingent on the project’s selection by CHFA. WHA estimates that the tax credit award from CHFA will bring in an estimated $13 million in funding toward the remaining project budget. The development was awarded $1,450,000 in federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits.

The Windsor Housing Authority helps people who meet income and other eligibility guidelines secure affordable, safe and quality housing in the Town of Windsor. They currently manage Windsor Meadows Apartments and Century III Apartments.

In addition to the Jacoby Meadows senior housing project, developments located in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Crested Butte, Denver, Frederick, Glenwood Springs, Greeley, Lakewood, Pagosa Springs, and Rifle were approved. There were 26 applications considered by CHFA.
