Windsor Police Department Plans to Close Office Early on Monday

The Windsor Police Department front parking lot will be closed on Monday, August 15, and the building will close at 3 p.m.   As always, officers will remain on duty. The closure is due to a planned public reception honoring the memory of fallen Officer Ty Powell.

That day, the department, located at 200 N. 11th St., is asking the public to gather and welcome the convoy from the Beyond the Call of Duty organization which features a motorcycle convoy and 40-foot memorial trailer honoring the memory of fallen officers. Powell’s badge, badge #958, will be retired and there will be opportunities for the public to share their memories of Powell. In addition to the public reception, the Windsor Police Department is issuing a special request for anyone with a motorcycle to attend this event as well. Powell loved riding his motorcycle and this Ride to Remember honors his joy and memory. The gathering is at 3:30 p.m.
