The Windsor Police Department has partnered with Santa Cops of Weld County to collect new, unwrapped donations of toys and gifts in original packaging for families facing difficulties this holiday season. Gifts can be dropped off between now and Thursday, December 17, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Windsor Police Department, 200 N. 11th Street. Because of concerns over COVID-19, there is a container located in the Police Department lobby so donations can be made safely and without having to be in contact with others.
Residents can also choose to make a monetary donation through credit card by texting SANTA to 707070 or they can mail a check to: Santa Cops of Weld County, 2875 W 10th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
This year, Santa Cops is in particular need of gifts for teenagers ages 12 through 17-years old.
Students who attend in-person learning through the Weld Re4 schools located in Windsor and those at the Windsor Charter Academies can also drop off donations in their school lobby, all of which will be collected and provided to the program.
Santa Cops of Weld County is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization works to provide toys to children in Weld County unlikely to receive anything for the holidays, as well as to improve relationships between police and the communities they serve. Families are referred to the program by local law enforcement agencies, Weld County schools, Weld County Probation and the Weld County Department of Human Services.
