Windsor, CO —The Town of Windsor Streets and Storm Drainage Division is releasing a new interactive map to allow residents to be better informed about town street sweeping operations. This map can be found at windsorgov.com/streetsweeping and allows residents to see when the town’s street sweeper is scheduled for their area.
The Streets and Storm Drainage Division has divided the Town into 20 street sweeping districts. They strive to sweep all of the Town’s districts at least four times per year and on an as-needed basis. Old Town Windsor and areas with larger, mature trees are swept several times each week during the fall. The downtown business district is swept approximately 16 times each year during the early morning hours before cars begin parking at local businesses.
The Town of Windsor Street Sweeping season is from April 1 through November 30. If temperatures are above freezing (32°F), street sweepers may perform additional operations from December 1 through March 31. Hours of operation are generally Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. Town sweepers may be called out for emergency spills outside of these hours. Street sweeping of the Downtown Business District, sweeping district 6, takes place every other Friday between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting.
The new interactive street sweeping schedule on the Town of Windsor street sweeping webpage is intended to allow Windsor residents to see when staff plan to sweep their district and help maximize the street sweepers’ efforts by keeping trash and recycling cans, sports equipment, vehicles and other obstructions out of the streets.
Additionally, residents can help by trimming their tree branches and any brush that lines the street, so street sweepers can have full access to the curb and gutter area.
