Public Art Installation Scheduled for Jan. 15 at 7th Street, New Liberty Road

Sculptor stands with two metal pelican sculptures in workshop

The Town of Windsor is excited to announce the installation of a new public art piece by sculptor and longtime resident Sheldon Roberts. This new public art piece is made possible by a private donation from resident and property developer Martin Lind.

The sculpture will feature two soaring pelicans and be installed in the center of the 7th Street and New Liberty Road traffic circle. Installation will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. During this time, the southwest portion of the roundabout will be closed. A clearly marked detour route will be provided and direct drivers to use Kestrel Drive and Hilltop Drive to avoid the closed section of the roundabout.

The private art donation is estimated at $50,000 and depicts two soldered metal pelicans each with a 22-foot wingspan placed on 15 foot pedestals. This will be the first piece of public art in a roundabout in Windsor.
