Volunteer Opportunities
The Town of Windsor understands the value of volunteers and the positive impact that a coordinated volunteer program has on the community. Volunteers are essential for community outreach and help to influence the future of Windsor.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age and are subject to a background screening. Families and youth organizations may volunteer as long as youth under age 18 are directly supervised by their parent/legal guardian or a representative of a formal organization during the time they are volunteering.

All volunteers (non youth sports coaches) must create a Sports Engine account through the following link:
- Volunteer with the Town of Windsor
- Each volunteer will complete a volunteer application and complete a background check annually
- An email address is required for this process. If you do not have a current email address, you can create a free one using Gmail
- Contact the Town's Risk Manager, with questions about the application process.
Volunteer Coaches are held to a high standard and are registered through the Windsor Parks, Recreation and Culture Department. The league trains coaches through the National Youth Sports Coach Association (NYSCA). By virtue of the NYSCA training and certification program coaches are trained in their responsibilities of youth sports and are required to pass a background check, complete an insurance liability form and sign a Coaches' Code of Ethics Pledge. Coaches' are reminded that in youth sport the consideration of the children should be placed above all and that as a NYSCA volunteer coach they are held accountable to a Code of Conduct.
Parent Volunteers (non-coaches) are also very important to the success of the league. Parents are encouraged to help during practice and games, organize snack lists, and help support the team in many different ways. Since parent volunteers do not complete a background check they are never put in charge of coaching the youth nor are they left in charge of or alone with any youth or group of youths.
For additional information visit the youth sports Coaches Corner page or contact the Community Recreation Center at 970-674-3500.
