5 Star Certification Program
The 5 Star State Certification is a program set up at the county level in Larimer County, and at the municipal level in Weld County. Both programs are run through an administrative committee, who is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing the program. This program encourages businesses to implement safety measures beyond what is already required by public health orders and guidelines that will help slow the spread of COVID-19. In doing so, businesses will be able to accelerate their reopening. Depending on where their county/community falls on the COVID-19 dial, certified businesses are eligible for less restrictive capacity caps. 5 Star certification reassures employees and customers that businesses are adhering to enhanced guidance.
NOTE: While certification provides the ability to open up at a less restrictive level, the community COVID-19 Dial and metrics must all be met as well.
How to Participate
This program is voluntary and is applicable to all business types. Businesses may choose to participate by completing an application requesting review of their plans to ensure compliance with enhanced public health guidelines. Support to businesses in understanding and meeting those guidelines will be provided to aid in compliance with the standards put in place by the state for participation.
Windsor businesses located in Larimer County can apply through the Larimer County Level Up program. Windsor business located in Weld County can apply through A Safe Place to Be program, a collaborative effort serving businesses in the Town of Windsor and the cities of Greeley and Evans.
Businesses receiving this certification have committed to providing their customers a safe experience while in their establishments and have completed the necessary requirements of the program. The advantage of this program’s structure is the positive focus on voluntary participation and compliance with measures to protect the community. It is a win-win set up, allowing businesses to operate responsibly in areas identified specifically to have the greatest potential impact on public health, and gain additional operational capacity in a safe manner.
