Traveling Trunks
Children of the Great Depression
The “Children of the Great Depression” traveling trunk provides a wide array of materials which explore the culture of the 1930s.  Radio programs, games, photo essays, and videos allow students and teachers to listen and interact with this intriguing era. Children of the Great Depression

Kaplan Hoover Bison Kill Site
The Kaplan Hoover Bison Kill Site traveling trunk allows teachers and students to investigate the science of archaeology and the cultural and environmental importance of the American Bison. The Bison Kill Site remains date to approximately 860 BC and appear to have been processed by humans for consumption and/or other uses. A collection of lesson plans, primary resources, and ideas for educators relevant to Colorado history. Topics include mining, ranching and farming, Native American life, and the development of Colorado cities.  History Colorado

The Gilder-Lehrman Institute
An amazing resource for students and teachers alike. Resources include historical letters, photographs, and important documents in America’s history. Unparalleled collection of learning modules in topics ranging from westward expansion to the Great Depression. Free podcasts also available! The Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History. 


The Library of Congress and the National Archives
The nation’s repository of historical material, the Library of Congress and the National Archives offer a wide array of services to educators and students. Dozens of lesson plans provide interdisciplinary access to primary source documents with correlation to national learning standards. Fun activities and podcasts are also available. Professional development opportunities for educators exist.

Colorado Historic Newspapers
The Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection (CHNC) currently includes 147 newspapers published in Colorado from 1859 to 1923. CHNC contains over 477,000 digitized pages and is a joint endeavor of the Colorado State Library, the Colorado Historical Society, and generous donors throughout the state.
