The Sewer Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a 2.8 million gallon per day treatment facility and over 90 miles of sewer line. Construction will begin in 2011 on a new headworks facility at the treatment plant. This will be the first major improvement to the facility since original construction was completed in 1995. Biosolids are removed and composted on site before being used as soil amendment. Before the biosolids can be reused they must pass extensive testing requirements.
The Sewer Division has rehabilitated over 24,000 feet of sewer line in the past 10 years and will continue to rehabilitate aging lines on a priority basis. Twenty-six manholes have also been rehabilitated and that will continue as needed.
