  7. All volunteers/instructors in the Town of Windsor Parks and Recreation Department shall submit a complete volunteer application and submit to a background check to be conducted on each volunteer for any parks and recreation program. Checks will be ordered and received through the Town of Windsor Human Resources Department, and remain confidential. Individuals will not be allowed to volunteer/instruct until a completed background check has been received and approved by the Town of Windsor Human Resources Department. A person shall be disqualified and prohibited from serving as a volunteer if the person has been found guilty of one of the following crimes:

    SEX OFFENSES
    All sex offenses – regardless of the amount of time since the offense.

    FELONIES
    Crimes of violence – regardless of the amount of time since the offense.
    All felony offense other than crimes of violence or sexual offenses within the past 10 years.

    MISDEMEANORS
    All misdemeanor offenses involving acts of violence within the past 7 years.
    All misdemeanor drug & alcohol offenses within the past 5 years or multiple offenses in the past 10 years.
    Any other misdemeanor within the past 5 years that would be considered a potential danger to children who might be in contact with the functions of the volunteer.

    PENDING CASES
    Anyone who has been charged for any of the disqualifying offenses set forth above in a pending case shall not be permitted to volunteer until final adjudication of the case and the evaluation thereof in accordance with the criteria hereby established.

    Guilty means a finding of guilty following a trial, entry of a guilty plea, or plea of no contest accompanied by a court finding of guilty, regardless of whether there was an adjudication of guilt or a withholding of guilt, and regardless of whether a dismissal of the case is recorded following the completion of a deferred sentence arrangement.

  8. Once this application is submitted and your application has been reviewed. A Parks, Recreation & Culture member will be in contact with you. Accepted applicants will be contacted via email from the Town of Windsor Human Resource Department on how to proceed with the background portion of the application process.

  9. RELEASE AND CERTIFICATION*

    I certify that the answers given by me to the foregoing questions and statements are true and correct without consequential omissions of any kind. I further authorize the release of any information to the Town of Windsor and I release all firms, person(s), or organizations providing information or records in accordance with this authorization from any and all claims of liability for compliance. Such information will be held in confidence in accordance with the organization’s guidelines. I further understand that any information proven to be misleading or untruthful will be grounds to disqualify me from any volunteer positions with the Town of Windsor.
