CSU Students Tackle Preservation Research in Windsor, Host Event

There’s historical value in several of the homes along Windsor’s downtown Walnut St. and a group of graduate students from Colorado State University have recently completed a research project focused on 28 of those homes. On Monday, Dec. 3, from 5 to 7 p.m., the group will present their findings during a public Open House held at the Art & Heritage Center, 116 5th St.

According to Town of Windsor Senior Planner Paul Hornbeck. “The group will uncover information about the people who lived in some of these homes, what they did for a living, and how the home may have social and historic value.” Hornbeck also expects the group to cover important architectural styles used in construction.

Hornbeck views the student work as an important step in documenting the stories behind Windsor’s historic homes and anticipates the student research will make it easier for homeowners to seek Historic Landmark designation status for their properties, should they be interested.

The Open House is free and light refreshments will be served.
