Sump Pump Output Reminder: Don't Dump Down a Sanitary Drain
Due to the recent rain, the Town of Windsor has noticed an increase in our wastewater flows in our sanitary sewers. As a reminder, Section 13-1-50 of the Windsor Municipal Code states in part (a) No person shall discharge or cause to be discharged any storm water, surface water, groundwater, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, uncontaminated cooling water, or unpolluted industrial process waters to any sanitary sewer. To paraphrase the code: if you have a sump pump in your house, it is illegal to let it pump water down a sanitary drain in your house. Please check your sump pump output connections.
